Should you have confidence in the Twin Cities housing market?
I am sure you have seen all the real estate market reports all over your social media and on your favorite local news channel. For at least a year the media has been reporting "seller's market" and "low inventory" as well as plenty of speculation about mortgage interest rates.
But you really need to dig deeper that what is being broadcasted on the news. After all, we know know two things about new media; news is about ratings and they need to report to a broad audience.
Recently I posted this about the potential for home prices falling due to proposed tax reform based on a report from NAR on Facebook and got quite the conversation going.
And all spring we have seen real estate industry experts being quoted in articles like this Industry Shortages Are Slowing Down the Market:
So what do all the news reports and press releases mean for your next move in the Twin Cities?
It means that now more than ever you need to sit down with a full time professional real estate agent that has their finger on the pulse of the market. An agent that is closely watching numbers and working in the trenches every day. You need to work with someone that will not just say "the market is hot and interest rates are low" so you should "sell now" or "buy now" because while that is honestly true for most twin cities local neighborhoods it doesn't address your situation or goals. It doesn't explain HOW the market is moving or how they can help you get the best result in the current market.
If market conditions are dictating your move, you CAN NOT rely on the media reports! Head over to a Certified Residential Specialist's office or meet for coffee and make a game plan. Whether you are buying or selling, getting the BEST price for your home is all about STRATEGY.
With so much information online, it's tempting to attempt to buy or sell a home without the assistance of a qualified agent but you may be missing key details and nuances.
